Key Characteristics:

Material: Traditionally made from silk, but now commonly produced from polyester, rayon, or nylon. The material choice affects its sheen, drape, and cost.

Weave: Plain weave (one weft thread over and under one warp thread), usually with a fine count.

Surface: Smooth, often with a slight ribbed texture from using differently twisted yarns. It can range from a matte to a lustrous, shiny finish.
